Thinking a thousand thoughts
What ifs and if onlys?
I do not speak them--
fearing the answers
Words have power to bring things into being
Do you believe it?
Then why are you silent, dear one?
Have you no thoughts?
Who silenced you?
In a meadow of tall grass
I whispered
a prayer, a wish, a memory, a dream
Doves called—one to another
sun rising above purple hills
I thought I heard you answer
But it was just the wind
