ON THIS MORNING

Painting by Robert Louis Williams, Jr.

On this morning

awakened to

salt sea air

crow’s call

gull’s cry

trees’ breezy dance

A balm of soul calm

In sense symphony

Of sea, sky and meadow

Amidst human chaos—

On this morning

TWILIGHT

Twilight

Sounds of thoughts

Images like holographs

Memories flourish

Faces, feelings

Fade into longing

Regretting, forgetting

Go to the window

Look to the heavens

Sun, moon, fixed stars

Rise and set, wax and wane

And you—here

Only a moment in millennia

Go to your door

Step over the threshold

Hear leaves rustling in the wind

See birds on the wing

Still—longing to stay

But it is twilight.
